Animation for a Youth Poetry contest. With http://sannecazemier.tumblr.com/ and www.anoekhouben.nl

To go along with a poem of a 9-year old girl about the bandwagon effect. The dutch language has a word for one person who acts according to that. I can’t really translate that. It’s called a ‘Meeloper’, someone who walks along brainlessly.

“The poem:
The ‘Meeloper’

I’ve got a ‘meeloper’
He trails along behind me

If I go left
He goes left

If I go right
He goes right

If I go to the toilet
He goes to the toilet

But when I ask: Are you coming along?
He says:

No.”

Afterwards we had the briljant idea of animating a version of a person in wheelchair being pushed along by a nurse. Buuuuuut… Maybe that isn’t such a good idea for 9-year old. (!!!) But bloody briljant none the less ;)

First out of probably five background sketches (digital) and just a simpel portrait of an old woman (to capture a certain vibe) of an upcoming short animation of a dream I had about being old, feeling lost and wandering aimlessly.
May keep these rough sketches this way if the grey sketchy pencil animation turns out to fit with it.
I am now making a styrofoam skeleton to base my character design on. Nearly done with that.

This still needs to be cleaned and things like pony tails and sleeves still need to be added. Extremely rough cut of short about Synesthesia. Specials effects and other stuff also still needs to be animated.

Starts with television grain/noise, there’s writing in it from behind it. Then Sofie appears. With every scream, explanation the screen fills with more colorfull swirls. Room gets smaller. Eventually she is sucked up into the noise again. This time colorfull.

Translation: Hello, I’m Sofie! And I will tell you about Sy-Nes-The-Sia! For example: When you see sounds! *screams* Or when you hear colors! Or when you see wwwoooorddsss aaaand leeeettters withs cooo-looooor….. That’s really all I know… “

'Nothing' or 'Full Throttle'

It’s funny how I can only ‘do nothing at all’ or ‘go completely full throttle’.

How all the deadlines I have to meet are horrible realistically unable to meet goals, yet when I start on it I finish it all. And I love it! And I’m dead afterwards.

I found out again after I spent 7 hours on non stop animation yesterday. I loved it to bits still! Yet it is completely ridiculous to work like that.. but still…. I love it so much..

It kills me, yet I thrive on it.

Well.. of to the animation lab again I suppose

Nice little animation apparently from an original 5 minute created piece. Outlining the German brand of Sennheiser to possible contributors and to outside consumers. The creation direction was by Toni Trix and the art direction by Felix Meyer.

The final piece is a lovely, well paced and engaging piece. If only I didn’t have my Sony Can Headphones….

Edit: For some reason the first picture won’t show properly and uploads as a blue picture…….. I don’t know why.. but it’s the same colour as the others on my computer…

We had to make a story solely with one object. I received a little lamp. This is the story I’ve made up playing around with the shape of it. The teacher is quite strict and I really don’t know if it’s good enough…. We’ll see thursday I suppose
